Which is the best media to present seven loops?

interaction_1With all seven storyboards developed and their loops working out nicely this is the most important question at the moment.

It is quite clear that the Magpie project does not quite fit into the ‘short movie’ genre. And it would not make sense to edit seven loops one after the other as nobody would realise that each scene is a loop.
Therefor I started thinking about other ways to present Magpie to an audience.

This could be an installation, for example, where seven loops are playing simultaneously on seven screens and the viewer moves from one screen to the next.

As well Magpie could be a website where the loops are connected through hyperlinks.
But way more interesting would be a Magpie-App where people can watch the loops on their mobile devices and skip from one loop to the next. To get an idea how the loops could possibly connect with each other I made this diagram:

The App would start with an intro and a playful way to evaluate the number of magpies. Then it would play the loop in question. And this loop will be played as long as the user doesn’t interfere.

Each scene offers several triggers to exit the loop and enter another scene. For example there’s a diamond or something shiny in every scene which could be a connection. As well some animals (Magpie, Cat) and objects reappear in a few scenes.

I’m quite happy with this interactive idea. Magpie is about good luck, bad luck and destiny. So whoever is not happy about the number of Magpies he saw in the beginning (destiny) has to interfere actively (→ interact)  to change ‘his’ destiny. The user will get into an other loop and again experience a situation which repeats in an endless cycle till he steps in again.
