One for Sorrow / Storyboard
This is the storyboard for the first loop: “One for sorrow”:
We see a boy walking along a river (1). His hat is a snow dome (2). Camera zooms out and we can see that the boy is walking around a little planet (3). As soon as the boy reaches the lower side of the planet it stops snowing inside his snow dome hat (4). The snowflakes accumulate in the sky of the snow dome (5). Now we can see what is going on inside the dome: There’s a girl in a magpie-dress sitting on the ground. She’s frozen up in an ice crystal as long as it snows in the dome (6/7). Each time when the boy reaches the lower side of his planet the scene in his hat starts melting and the girl’s tears start running down her cheeks (8). She’s crying a whole river of tears (9). We follow the river (10) and meet the boy again who’s walking along this river of tears (11). ∞

To illustrate the calm and melancholic mood of this first loop I arranged a moodboard (below) with pictures. It should feel like a cold grey winter day. Blue, grey, white and muddy green will be the dominant colours in the palette. There have to be some bright colour accents to raise hope and lead the way to the other loops.
Pictures in this moodboard are created by: Richard Perez ‘Isolation’ / Tatsuro Kiuchi / Kyle Jorgensen / Bernadette Pascua / Celyn Brazier ‘The Reader’ / Alexandra Pellissier ‘Angles Morts’ / Irana Douer / Popel Coumou
